About the Program:

CanPOWERSkating classes are intended for skaters aged 7+ with prior skating experience, and are not suitable for new skaters due to the fast paced format.

The program teaches the 15 essential skills identified for hockey and ringette proficiency. Group lessons are taught by Certified Skate Canada Professional coaches, and will include balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and agility skills.

Players should be able to skate forwards the length of the ice, stop on command and skate backwards.  CanPowerSkate is the only nationally regulated power skating program in Canada. It was developed by a team of hockey, figure skating and ringette experts to teach the fundamentals of power skating in a progressive and sequential manner.

CanPOWERSkate has been designed to run concurrently with CanSkate sessions. Children who do not meet the CanPOWERSkate requirements will be moved into the CanSkate session.
